New Academic Program Process New Academic Program Proposals should be developed and submitted through the Provost to Academic Council in the Fall for review and comment. A marketing plan should be included listing competitors and their tuition rates. The Schools are encouraged to work with the Office of Planning & Budget in developing budgets for these proposals. Once approved by Academic Council, new program proposals will be submitted to the Office of Planning & Budget for review. After dialogue with the Provost, the Office of Planning & Budget and the appropriate school, New Academic Program Proposals will be submitted to the President’s Cabinet for review and comment. If approved, New Academic Program Proposals will be submitted to the Budget Committee for review and consideration. Other Financial Considerations: · The base for determining whether or not a new program has achieved its projected tuition income will be the new tuition generated net of financial aid and university fees. · Funding for new programs will be temporary only for first three years until it is determined that the program is self-supporting. · New program funding should only be used for expenses directly related to the new program. · A separate budget will be established for every new program to track expenses. · New program funding will be authorized at the beginning of the fiscal year after review of the new program budget by Planning & Budget and approval by the Provost. · Impact of new programs on existing programs enrollment will be considered. · Impact on library services should be considered by filling out the form at http://www.library.duq.edu/eforms/impact.htm
